Pointing out that chronic fatigue mostly affects perfectionist people, Internal Medicine Specialist Prof. Dr. Yaşar Küçükardalı said that a regular exercise program is effective in treatment. Prof. Dr. Yaşar Küçükardalı advised people who experienced fatigue for more than 6 months, "Clear your mind's desktop, take time for yourself mentally and physically."
The feeling of inadequacy in starting a job and the accompanying feeling of burnout is defined as 'fatigue'. Specialists classify fatigue as physiological, disease-related, acute, subacute, and chronic fatigue. Yeditepe University Kozyatağı Hospital Internal Medicine Specialist Prof. Dr. Yaşar Küçükardalı, who stated that they call fatigue that lasts for more than 6 months as 'chronic fatigue', talked about chronic fatigue and the precautions to be taken.
Explaining that people with chronic fatigue avoid exercise, Yeditepe University Kozyatağı Hospital Prof. Dr. Yaşar Küçükardalı made the following statement:
“Physiological fatigue is a situation that almost all of us encounter, especially after hard work, which goes away when we rest. In addition, fatigue may occur due to certain diseases. Thyroid laziness, anemia, infections, organ failures, cancers, musculoskeletal system diseases, and orthopedic problems are among these problems. In such a case, when the underlying disease is diagnosed and treated, the fatigue complaints of the person disappear. Fatigue that lasts longer than 6 months is defined as chronic fatigue and this affects the daily life of the person significantly. In such a situation, the person cannot find enough energy to carry on any work.”
Explaining that people with chronic fatigue are perfectionists, Prof. Dr. Yaşar Küçükardalı said, “It is noteworthy that those with chronic fatigue syndrome, which is mostly seen between the ages of 30-50, are generally perfectionists. They want everything to be perfect in its place and on time. When we look at gender, we see that women are more disadvantaged. Chronic fatigue, long-lasting sore throat, mild swelling in the lymph nodes, disturbed sleep patterns, and prolonged digestive systems problems such as bloating and flatulence are among the symptoms. Feeling tired even in the morning, instead of starting the day fresh, is one of the most important symptoms of the disease.”
Pointing out that the most effective treatment for the disease is positive thinking, Prof. Dr. Küçükardalı said, “The most effective treatment method for these patients will be to be positive and to love life. They should know that there is no serious problem that threatens their lives in the face of these complaints. In addition, behavioral therapy should be applied. So, thoughts need to be cured. It is important to get rid of unnecessary thoughts that occupy the mind as much as possible. Everyone needs to analyze themselves and bring their favorite habits and hobbies to the forefront. Emptying one's mind desktop is the most effective method in treatment. We need to take time for ourselves mentally and physically to rest. Besides, an “exercise vaccine” should be administered. Although these people do not have the energy to move, they should go on and increase their exercise capacity day by day. Treatment success will be achieved with a regular exercise program. Biological rhythm is very important in chronic fatigue syndrome. It is very important to go to bed and wake up at certain times. It is seen that those who suffer from this problem do not have quality sleep patterns in which their biological rhythms are very different.”
Yeditepe University Hospital Internal Medicine Specialist Prof. Dr. Yaşar Küçükardalı said, “Don't be afraid if there is no abnormality in the laboratory findings despite fatigue,” and stated that intermittent magnesium supplementation can also have positive effects.
