In children, it is crucial to evaluate and treat surgically treated diseases with age-appropriate approaches. The Department of Pediatric Surgery at Yeditepe University Hospital provides outpatient follow-up and treatment for surgical diseases affecting the digestive system, urinary tract, and chest cavity (excluding the heart) in children from the prenatal period to 18 years of age. In addition to open surgical procedures, endoscopic and laparoscopic surgical methods are used, and services are provided in coordination with other branches for conditions such as congenital spinal cord defects and nocturnal enuresis.

What Services are Offered in Pediatric Surgery?

In the Pediatric Surgery Department, a significant portion of pediatric surgeries are outpatient procedures where the patient is discharged the same day. These include procedures such as inguinal hernia repair, hydrocele , undescended testicles, circumcision, catheter placement, and endoscopic procedures. Thanks to special pain management measures, patients experience minimal pain both in the hospital and at home after surgery.
The Department of Pediatric Surgery, in collaboration with the Department of Urology, provides surgical and endoscopic treatment for congenital anomalies ( cystic kidney diseases, urinary tract obstructions and dilations, urinary reflux from the bladder to the kidneys, bladder abnormalities, penile abnormalities, aortic malformation) and acquired problems (stones, trauma) in the field of pediatric urology.
