IVF Center Cell Culture and Research Laboratory Opened

IVF Center Cell Culture and Research Laboratory was opened at Yeditepe University Kozyatağı Hospital. In the laboratory, it is aimed to investigate the cause of repeated failures in IVF. In addition, it is aimed to obtain support in embryo quality from the cell cultures developed in the center. Stating that there is almost no sample of molecular research laboratories organized in the clinic in Turkey, Yeditepe University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology President Prof. Dr. Erkut Attar said that students and specialist doctors can also benefit from this laboratory.

In the opening ceremony of Yeditepe University Kozyatağı Hospital IVF Center Cell Culture and Research Laboratory, Yeditepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl, Yeditepe University Hospitals Chairman of the Board Assoc. Prof. Dr. A. Burak Dalan, Dean of Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Sina Ercan, Yeditepe University Hospitals Medical Coordinator Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Keleştemur and Northwestern University Department of Obstetrics USA President Prof. Dr. Serdar Bulun and specialist doctors attended.

Coming from the USA, Prof. Dr. Serdar Bulun met with the students through the video conference method in honor of the opening of the laboratory after the ribbon cutting and held an interview titled ‘medical career.

“We Attach Great Significance to Both Education and Research”

Giving information about the research laboratory, the US President of Obstetrics and Gynecology Prof. Dr. Erkut Attar stated that there is no research laboratory in the clinic and IVF center in many hospitals. Prof. Dr. Erkut Attar: “Our goal is to provide education to students at the same time. Develop their knowledge and skills. We will use the lab as a clinic. In selected cases, we will receive support from cell cultures in IVF treatment. We attach great importance to education and research. We will use the cell culture laboratory for patients who experience recurrent failure in IVF treatment.”

Prof. Dr. Attar also added the following: “There are few research laboratories integrated into gynecology clinics in Turkey. With the center, we aim to increase the quality of education of our students, train our specialist doctors as scientists, improve themselves, and conduct research at the molecular level. ”

The Causes of Repeated Failures Will Be Investigated

Explaining that they will take the cells in the tissues of the human body and feed them in the laboratory environment and conduct research, Yeditepe University Hospitals Gynecology and Obstetrics President Prof. Dr. Attar continued his words as follow:

“Although everything is normal in repetitive failures in IVF treatment, sometimes we do not know why. Some patients have impaired embryo quality. We will give these patients another chance with the support cell culture study. Our other goal is to replicate the cells of the reproductive system here and to conduct scientific studies on these cells. Tissues are made up of cells. The cell structure of the organs is different. We take cells from the body by biopsy and feed them in the laboratory environment, we do research.”

After the opening, Prof. Dr. Erkut Attar showed the guests around the laboratory and gave information.
