Pointing out that there are more people without symptoms after getting infected with the COVID-19 Coronavirus disease, which has stormed through the world, than those with symptoms, Yeditepe University Hospitals Medical Microbiology Specialist Prof. Dr. Aynur Eren Topkaya said, “Those who undergo the disease asymptomatically are mostly young individuals, women and people who do not have an underlying chronic disease such as heart, diabetes, and hypertension.”
Many workplaces in Turkey were closed as part of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. With the reception of positive signals in the fight against the pandemic, the normalization process has begun. In line with the normalization plan, hairdressers, barbers, and beauty salons started to provide service on Monday, May 11th.
With the start of the new normalization process, businesses are also opening their doors to the extent allowed. On the other hand, both employers and employees do not know exactly who has contracted the Coronavirus infection. Specialists say that some people may have been infected with the COVID-19 Coronavirus without realizing it. At this point, while the necessity of testing for control purposes is a matter of curiosity, specialists especially emphasize that those who undergo the disease asymptomatically are more common than those with symptoms.
Yeditepe University Hospitals Medical Microbiology Specialist Prof. Dr. Aynur Eren Topkaya said, “With the antibody test, it is possible to tell whether the person has undergone the COVID-19 Coronavirus. The numbers shared by the Ministry of Health are the numbers of PCR tests performed especially for patients with symptoms. PCR tests are not performed for people who have no symptoms. Those who undergo the disease asymptomatically are more common than those with symptoms. Those who undergo the disease asymptomatically are mostly young individuals, women, and people who do not have an underlying chronic disease such as heart, diabetes, and hypertension.”
