There are a few things to keep from poisoning your summer vacation. Conscious people can protect themselves from both food poisoning and diarrheal diseases...
Diarrhea and food poisoning are among the most common infections in the summer. According to news of HT Magazine's Ceyda Erenoğlu; Yeditepe University Hospital Infectious Diseases Specialist Prof. Dr. Meral Sönmezoğlu lists the things you should pay attention to in your diet to protect your health as follows:
Watch Out for This!
- Do not eat food that is sold openly.
- Observe hygiene when preparing food.
- Cook chicken products thoroughly over 70 degrees.
- Do not leave at room temperature to thaw the food removed from the freezer, soak in the freezer compartment.
- After cooking each dish, heat only one time and freeze one time.
- Discard the good-looking product after its expiration date.
- If bacteria form in the products you put in the refrigerator, remove the bacteria from the inside of the cabinet and disinfect it at regular intervals.
- Keep the aqueous foods in the refrigerator closed.
- Do not wash and store eggs, store them in closed ovaries.
- Do not refreeze thawed meat by removing it from the deep freezer, consume it in 24 hours. Do not store meat dishes for longer than 2 days.
- Be careful not to pick up any food left on the stalls at room temperature when eating out.
Do Not Leave Sauced Dishes Outside the Refrigerator
- Foods with sauce kept outside the refrigerator are recommended to be served and consumed immediately. (Foods with mayonnaise, ketchup, and different sauces fall into this category.)
- Meat from the butcher must be consumed during the day without hiding.
- Although those who want to eat undercooked meat can cook and eat beef in this state, it is considered very important that chicken and minced meat are cooked well.
Danger in The Water!
It is stated that the waters that stand still in the carboy or dispenser in hot weather are very prone to producing bacteria. Pumps or dispensers in homes can cause water to become bacterial.
Precautions to Be Taken at Home in Case of Infection
- The most important medicine for infection in your body is to drink plenty of water.
- Do not use antibiotics except as recommended by your physician.
- The biggest mistake in food poisoning is taking antidiarrheal and anti-vomiting drugs because the electrolyte is lost while the toxins are removed from the body. The first rule is to rest and drink plenty of water. The lost water and electrolyte must be replaced.
Follow This Diet Against Food Poisoning
- Drink more water than you normally would.
- Do not eat vegetables that can be eaten raw. Use your preference for well-cooked vegetables.
- Eat nuts.
- Avoid ice cream, milk, and frozen foods. (Yogurt and ayran can be consumed.)
- Eat white bread instead of whole-grain and whole-grain bread.
Soak Salad Ingredients in Vinegar
Salad ingredients, called fruits, vegetables, and greens, often contain soil, so they need to be washed with plenty of water. (It is not enough to dip it in water in a container.) It is recommended to leave the salad ingredients to be eaten raw in vinegar water for 10 minutes.
Here are the Signs of Infection
- Nausea, vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea (soft or very watery stool)
- Loss of appetite
- Fever
- Mental fog
- Tendency to sleep
- Decreased appetite
The Risk of Diarrheal Disease in Pools
Diarrheal disease is a very common water-related condition in resorts. Even a small amount of stool in the water is enough to make you sick. Chlorine is not always enough to kill germs. Even ingesting very small amounts of water is enough to get this disease. You should ensure that the pool you are swimming in has a regular filtering system that removes infectious germs and that everyone takes a shower before entering the pool.
