Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1987. She completed her residency in Neurology at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1993, and her subspecialty training at Marmara University Institute of Health Sciences in 1994.

Throughout her academic and administrative career, she has served as Medical Director of Yeditepe University Hospitals, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Yeditepe University, and Rector of Yeditepe University between 2016 and 2024.

Prof. Dr. Canan Aykut Bingöl, who has particularly focused her work in the field of epilepsy, has numerous national and international publications. She is a member of the Turkish Epilepsy Association, Turkish Neurological Society, Turkish EEG-EMG Society (Istanbul Branch – Vice President), and the European Epilepsy Academy (EUREPA).

Among the awards she has received are the Brain Research Society First Prize Award in 1993, the American Academy of Neurology Foreign Researcher Award in 1995, Marmara University Faculty of Medicine Academic Awards in 1995 and 1996, and the National Neurology Congress Pfizer Oral Presentation First Prize Award in 1998.
