The BMI (Body Mass Index) calculator is a tool that measures whether your body weight is normal for your height.
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measurement tool used to determine whether an individual's body weight is within the ideal range based on their height and weight. It is also referred to as the Body Mass Index (BMI) or, in Turkish, Beden Kitle İndeksi (BKİ).
Based on a specific formula, this calculation reveals whether a person falls into the underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese category. The resulting value also gives a general idea about an individual's overall health condition.
Body Mass Index is calculated by dividing body weight (in kilograms) by the square of height (in meters).
Example:
If a person weighs 70 kg and is 1.75 m tall:
BMI = 70 / (1.75 x 1.75) = 22.86
BMI (kg/m²)
< 18.5 Underweight
18.5 - 24.9 Normal (Healthy)
25 - 29.9 Overweight
30 - 34.9 Obese (Class 1)
35 - 39.9 Obese (Class 2)
≥ 40 Morbid Obese (Class 3)
An important point to remember is that although the Body Mass Index Calculator can provide an indicator of general health, it does not give a definitive diagnosis. Factors such as muscle and fat distribution are not considered in this evaluation. Therefore, the results obtained after calculating your BMI should be considered as a general assessment, and for more detailed information you should consult a doctor.
