Laboratories with Advanced Technological Equipment
In the Apheresis Unit and Stem Cell Freezing-Processing Unit within the Bone Marrow Transplantation Clinic, procedures are carried out with advanced technological devices. HLA typing can be performed at a high molecular level with the Flow Cytometry Laboratory and HLA Tissue Group Laboratory. It is also working in collaboration with Yeditepe University Genetic Diagnosis Center. The data obtained are decisive in many points, from the correct diagnosis of the patient to the drawing of a road map for the treatment and the determination of the patient's response to the treatment.
In the Stem Cell Freezing and Stem Cell Processing Unit of the Bone Marrow Transplant Clinic, there are nitrogen tanks such as an automatic freezing unit, quarantine, and main tank. Stem cells can be stored in these tanks for 20 years without loss of tissue.
Bone Marrow Transplant Polyclinic
Follow-ups of patients who come to the clinic for treatment are carried out in the bone marrow transplant outpatient clinic.
General physical evaluation of the patients is performed in light of treatment records, imaging and pathology reports, and laboratory results. After the evaluations, the transfer decision is made.
The fact that the outpatient clinic is located within the center minimizes the contact of patients with other patients and ensures that there is no loss of time.
Inpatient Unit
The treatment of patients who have started the transplantation process is carried out in a special department established according to international standards. There is a HEPA-filter system in all areas, from patient rooms to corridors, to protect from the risk of infection. In this way, the particles in the air can also be cleaned. Thanks to the special molecule developed at Yeditepe University Laboratories, which is patented and is a first in the world, "zero hospital infection spread" was aimed.
Rooms, each for one person, are designed with the comfort of the patients in mind. The rooms can be entered after the necessary disinfection is provided. It is aimed to support the general psychology of the patients in the rooms with the necessary infrastructure to feel comfortable and safe during the treatment. Each of the specially designed beds can be turned into an emergency response unit if necessary.
Patients are kept under close monitoring at all stages of their treatment, before and after transplantation. After their discharge, they are followed up by social support teams.
