At Yeditepe University Hospitals Bone Marrow Transplant Clinic, services for the different stages of the transplant process are carried out with advanced technological infrastructure and collaboration among relevant units. The clinic comprises an Apheresis Unit, a Stem Cell Freezing and Processing Unit, a Flow Cytometry Laboratory, and an HLA Tissue Typing Laboratory. It also operates in cooperation with the Yeditepe University Genetic Diagnosis Center. The data obtained is used at various stages, from ensuring the patient receives an accurate diagnosis to mapping out the treatment plan and determining the patient's response to treatment.
The Stem Cell Freezing and Processing Unit is equipped with an automated freezing unit and nitrogen tanks, including quarantine and main tanks. Stem cells can be stored in these tanks for up to 20 years without any loss in tissue quality.
The Bone Marrow Transplant Outpatient Clinic is the unit where the evaluation, decision-making, treatment, and follow-up processes of patients who are planned for or are undergoing bone marrow transplantation are coordinated. The patient's clinical condition is assessed by considering treatment records, imaging and pathology reports, and laboratory results together. Patient follow-up is maintained in coordination with relevant units throughout the process, from the pre-transplant period to post-discharge.
The treatment of patients who have begun the transplant process is carried out in a special unit designed according to international standards. To protect against the risk of infection, HEPA filter systems are installed in all areas, from patient rooms to corridors. This system also purifies airborne particles. Thanks to a special molecule developed and patented at Yeditepe University Laboratories—a world first—"zero hospital-acquired infection transmission" is targeted.
Each room is single-occupancy and designed with patient comfort in mind. Entry to the rooms is allowed only after the necessary disinfection has been completed. To help patients feel comfortable and secure throughout their treatment, the rooms are designed with scenic views and the necessary infrastructure to support their overall psychological well-being. Each specially designed bed can be converted into an emergency response unit if needed.
Patients are closely monitored at all stages of their treatment, both before and after the transplant. Their follow-up continues after discharge with the support of social support teams.
