In the Medical Oncology Department of Yeditepe University Hospitals, patients' treatment and follow-up processes are carried out by adopting a multidisciplinary and personalized approach in cooperation with different branches. During the treatment process, different drug treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies are utilized.

What Is Medical Oncology?

Medical Oncology is a specialty branch that plays an important role in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of cancer diseases. In this department, drug treatments aimed at stopping or destroying the growth of cancer cells are applied. Chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies are planned personalized according to the type and stage of the disease.

Why Is Medical Oncology Visited?

Patients diagnosed with cancer apply to the Medical Oncology Department in order to create a personalized treatment plan and to follow up the treatment process. The treatment plan is created with a multidisciplinary approach in cooperation with surgery, Radiation Oncology, and other branches, taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient and the biological structure of the disease.
The Medical Oncology Department is also applied to for the purposes of regular follow-up during the treatment process, management of side effects, preservation of quality of life, and carrying out psychosocial support processes. Since early diagnosis in cancer significantly increases treatment success, regular check-ups and participation of individuals in risk groups in screening programs are important.
