Breast MRI is often a preferred method as an advanced examination of suspicious lesions that cannot be clearly diagnosed by mammography and ultrasonography. It is also used as a breast MR screening test, especially in high-risk patients having a first-degree relative with breast cancer. It is also used to investigate the diffusion of the disease in a patient diagnosed with breast cancer and the presence of disease in the contralateral breast.
No radiation risk can be created by breast MRI. Because MRI is an imaging method obtained by making use of magnetic field changes.
Thermal imaging with a thermography device is a method based on temperature measurement from the skin on the breast surface. It is a non-invasive and radiation-free imaging. It has been reported by the FDA that there is no valid scientific data on thermography, it is not an effective imaging method in the early diagnosis of breast cancer, and it is affected by many conditions such as infection. Therefore, it has no place in the diagnosis and screening of breast cancer.
