1st Yeditepe Arrhythmia Symposium Was Held
The 1st Yeditepe Arrhythmia Symposium was recently held at Yeditepe University Kozyatağı Hospital. The meeting was attended by experts from Türkiye and abroad to follow the technique that entered the world literature called 'Cardioneuroablation' developed by Cardiology specialist Prof. Dr. Tolga Aksu.
Yeditepe University Kozyatağı Hospital Cardiology Specialist Prof. Dr. Tolga Aksu, who explained the technique of 'Cardioneuroablation' with live cases in the symposium attended by many domestic and foreign physicians, said that they aimed to contribute to the education of electrophysiologists and cardiologists in Türkiye with this meeting, where some special areas of complex electrophysiology were evaluated. Prof. Dr. "Our aim in this training meeting is to bring together physicians from abroad and physicians in Türkiye and to explain to which patients and under what conditions these new treatment methods should be applied," Aksu said.
Domestic and International Experts Come Together
Stating that the symposium was held for educational purposes, Prof. Dr. Tolga Aksu said, "6 electrophysiologists from different states of America came to learn the technique on site. We had two live cases yesterday. The subject was discussed in detail in the symposium we held today. The live case we will perform will be followed by our participants in the hall and can be watched online."
"Young Patient Experiencing Various Fainting Attacks Due to Staying in the Heart"
Prof. Dr. Tolga Aksu also gave information about the live case in which the technique was applied at the symposium: "Our live case today is a young patient in their twenties who fully fits the ablation method we described. They were having various fainting episodes due to stopping in his heart. Therefore, pacemaker implantation has been recommended in many centers. However, as in this case, our young patients may have difficulty tolerating the pacemaker for some reason. We thought that this case could be treated with ablation treatment as a result of our evaluation."
Correct Patient Selection for Administration is Crucial
Emphasizing that the indications for the use of the pacemaker are different and there is also a patient group that must be used, Prof. Dr. Tolga Aksu, there should be no misunderstanding in this regard. We also use it for patients who need to be treated with a pacemaker. The main point here is to know that it is possible to treat this condition without a pacemaker, especially in some young patients with arrhythmia. At this point, the main purpose of our meetings is for cardiologists and electrophysiologists in Türkiye to be informed of this treatment and to guide patients correctly."
Those Who Experience Fainting Should Definitely Consult a Cardiologist
Yeditepe University Cardiology Specialist Prof. Dr. Tolga Aksu reminded us that if the underlying cause of fainting, which is very common in society, is due to cardiovascular causes, there may be consequences that can seriously affect the life of the patient, and continued: we recommend that people who faint under the age of 40 should be seen by a cardiologist, diagnosed with various tests, and if the disease is found to be due to cardiac arrest, it should be seen by an electrophysiologist. I would also like to underline that we can treat 20-30 percent of patients with cardiac arrest who require cardiac pacemakers with ablation alone without cardiac pacemakers and without a permanent scar."
