Seborrheic dermatitis is one of the varieties of eczema. It is genetic. It may appear on our scalp, eyebrows, sides of the nose, inside and behind the ears, inside the beard in case of the presence of a beard, and mustache in men, even in the middle of the chest, sometimes on the back. It is observed in the form of itchy redness, crusting and flaking. Sometimes it can affect all these areas, and sometimes it can be seen in a single area, only on the side of the nose or on the scalp. It can also be seen in different regions in the same person at different times throughout life.
Only the attack periods of seborrheic dermatitis can be treated. There is no complete cure. Even if seborrheic dermatitis is treated, it may recur in the future. Generally, cortisone creams are used in the treatment. In addition, some creams contain herbal ingredients, do not contain medications, are used in maintenance therapy, and prevent a recurrence. Seborrheic dermatitis may be more severe due to the reproduction of a fungus living in the sea by infecting the body. In this case, fungicides can be used orally for a short time, or sometimes fungal creams can be used. After seborrheic dermatitis has been treated with medications, longer-term herbal creams may be recommended for the patient to prevent the attacks from recurring.
Seborrheic dermatitis occurs in people with white skin and oily skin. It can occur in any age group, from newborn infants to adults. In infants, seborrheic dermatitis may appear in the form of a host in the first month.
There is no cure for seborrheic dermatitis, exacerbation periods can be treated, but eczema may recur afterward. During the exacerbation period, medication and medical creams are applied. After the exacerbation has passed, dermatological creams that mostly contain herbal ingredients, do not contain medications, are used in maintenance therapy, and prevent recurrence can be used. Patients can prevent the emergence of seborrheic dermatitis by using these creams once or twice a day.
Seborrheic dermatitis is genetic. It occurs as a result of a familial predisposition. Stress, fatigue, insomnia, and intense work pressure can cause seborrheic dermatitis. However, fermented beverages such as wine and beer can also cause seborrheic dermatitis to exacerbate.
