Career Summary

• Rana Karabudak has been a professor at the University of Hacettepe since 1999- 2023. 
• She now works in the Department of Neurological Sciences- Yeditepe University Istanbul. 
• She has founded and has been directing the Neuroimmunology Unit-and Clinical MS Centre of Hacettepe University Hospital’s Department of Neurology.
• She had her fellowship in MS and clinical neuroimmunology at the Reed Neurological
• Institute - MS Clinics at the UCLA in 1991-1992-and immunology techniques laboratory experience with Dr. A .Reder at the University of Chicago in 2003.
• Her clinical and scientific interests are in the field of clinical neuroimmunology, mainly immunological aspects of Multiple Sclerosis, Myasthenia Gravis and neuroradiology of MS.
• As a primary investigator she has participated a number of International Multi-Centre drug trials in MS.
•  She is one of the founders and board   members      of the European School of Neuroimmunology (ESNI).

Professional Awards

• UCLA – Reed Neurological Research Grant during fellowship in MS, 1992.
• Turkish Scientific and Research Council, TUBİTAK – BAYG, 1991.
• European School of Neuroimmunology 2009 ESNI Award
• She authored and co-authored 122 peer-reviewed articles, over 800 articles, editor of 5 Neurology and 1 Neuroimmunology Textbook, writer of 4 books and several book chapters in English & Turkish.

Memberships

• Dr.Karabudak is a member of a number of societies including the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), European Neurology Academy the European Neurological Society.
• She also served on the Executive Committee of Turkish Neurological Society. and serves on the Advisory Board of  ESNI,Turkish MS Societies and the Editorial Board of the Turkish Neurological Society Journal.
