Career Summary:

Dr. Veysel Umman completed his secondary education at American Robert College in 2004 and his medical education at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2010. In 2008, he worked as an observer and research assistant at Los Angeles USC – University Hospital Keck School of Medicine, in 2010 at Cornell University – Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and at Yale University in the same year. Between 2010 and 2013, he worked at Yale University’s Organ Transplantation Department under Prof. Dr. Şükrü Emre. In 2012, he passed the USMLE exams and obtained the ECFMG board certification in the United States. In 2013, he completed Yale University's “Postdoctorate Research Fellowship” program.
From 2014 to 2019, he completed his residency training in General Surgery at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, earning the title of General Surgery Specialist. In 2019, he received training in Hepatopancreatobiliary and Robotic Surgery under Prof. Dr. Johann Pratschke at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin in Germany. Between 2019 and 2021, he completed his mandatory service at Fatsa State Hospital.
From June 2021 to October 2023, he worked as a faculty member at Ege University’s Organ Transplantation Research and Application Center and the Department of General Surgery. In January 2023, he participated in studies at Inönü University Liver Transplantation Institute, and in May and June 2023, at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea, focusing on laparoscopic and open liver transplantation as well as hepatopancreatobiliary surgery.
In October 2023, he began working as a lecturer at Izmir University of Economics and contributed to the opening of Medical Point Hospital's newly established organ transplantation center, where he worked for one year. In October and November 2024, he received training in laparoscopic liver surgery and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at Tokyo Women’s Medical University.
He has 26 national and international congress presentations, 31 local and international publications, 7 book chapters, and has reviewed over 15 publications. He continues to serve as a peer reviewer for scientific journals and engages in academic activities as part of the HPB Association’s Education Committee.
