Childhood cancers are diseases that occur in children under 15 years of age and have different characteristics from adult cancers. While their incidence ranges from 100-150 per million, lung, breast, and colon cancers, which are common in adults, are quite rare in children. Childhood cancers, which tend to be more aggressive, are the second leading cause of death in children after accidents. Yeditepe University Hospitals Pediatric Oncology Department provides comprehensive services for the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of childhood cancers.
Pediatric Oncology is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of cancers in children under the age of 18. Within this scope, the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of solid tumors, lymphomas, and leukemias occurring during childhood are managed.

There are many treatment methods for childhood cancers. The treatment method varies depending on the disease and its spread. Treatment methods include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy , and stem cell transplantation.
Yeditepe University Koşuyolu Hospital has a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Clinic with both outpatient and inpatient services. The inpatient service consists of 11 rooms. The spacious and airy single rooms provide ideal conditions for children undergoing chemotherapy. The rooms include a bathroom, toilet, air conditioning, mini-refrigerator, wardrobe, safe, and a resting area for accompanying persons. Monitoring and treatment are carried out with the mother present .
Our outpatient chemotherapy unit, where short-term treatments and blood transfusions are performed, has 5 treatment units and one inpatient room.
Pediatric Oncology outpatient services are provided in a separate clinic floor dedicated solely to children with cancer, leukemia, and blood diseases.
