Contraceptive methods are practices and tools that help couples postpone or prevent pregnancy in a planned manner. Birth control methods should be chosen according to the individual's health status, age, lifestyle, and expectations. The right method of protection should be determined after an evaluation by your specialist physician.
Condom: Protects against sexually transmitted diseases. Separate models are available for women and men. Condoms are single-use and must be replaced before each sexual encounter.
Diaphragm and Cervical Cap: These are inserted into the vagina to prevent sperm from reaching the uterus.
Birth Control Pill: These pills, taken daily, can provide nearly 99% protection when used regularly. Birth control pills must be used under a doctor's supervision.
Hormonal IUD (IUD): The IUD, which is inserted into the uterus, provides protection for approximately 3–5 years. It can also reduce menstrual bleeding.
Birth Control Injection: Injections administered every 1 or 3 months are easy to use but may cause menstrual irregularities.
Hormonsuz doğum kontrol yöntemidir ve 5–10 yıl koruma sağlayabilmektedir. Bu araçlar gebelik sonrasında emzirme döneminde de güvenle kullanılabilmektedir.
Tubal Ligation (in women): Pregnancy can be prevented by tying the fallopian tubes. However, this method is difficult to reverse.
Vasectomy (in men): Protection is provided by tying the sperm ducts. It is an easy and permanent procedure.
Calendar Method: Protection by tracking ovulation days.
Basal Body Temperature Tracking: Measuring body temperature to determine the ovulation period.
Withdrawal Method: Has a low protection rate.
The following factors should be considered when choosing a contraceptive method:
• Age and health status
• Pregnancy plans
• Risk of sexually transmitted diseases
• Ease of use
Remember: The most appropriate contraceptive method should be determined after an evaluation by your doctor.
